Javelin
The primary design for a javelin is to be used as a range weapon however can also be used as a thrusting weapon similar to a speak. It was usually thrown by hand and used extensively through out medieval Europe. The French term for this weapon is Anglo-Saxon and these Anglo-Saxon warriors would form a shielded wall and use generally heavy weapons such as swords, spears, and Danish Axes then use these javelins as an offensive weapon behind the wall. The Welsh especially the North welsh was another group that used the javelin as one of their primary weapons during the Norman and later English invasions. Their primary tactic was to rain these javelin on the enemy troops and then retreat into the woods or mountains before they could attack and purse them.
