Arming Sword

The arming sword commonly known as a knight's or knightly sword it had a single handed cruciform hilt, a double edge blade ranging between 30-32 inches in length. It was used from the 12th-16th century and was the standard military weapon for a knight. This sword was overall light weight and normally boasts excellent balance. Extremely versatile capable of both cut and thrust combat it was often paired with a shield or buckle. These swords were carried by the knights even when not full dress armor and would be considered unfit for public appearance without. This sword is commonly depicted in period artwork and many surviving examples of are displayed in museums.
